Siskiyou News Officially Recognized as County’s Paper of Record

the Siskiyou News has been officially designated as a newspaper of general circulation for both the City of Etna and Siskiyou County. This recognition came through a recent court decision following a petition filed by Jay Martin.

“This designation is crucial for our community, It ensures that important public notices, government actions, and legal announcements will reach county residents through a reliable local source.”

The Superior Court of California, County of Siskiyou, ruled on March 6, 2025, that the Siskiyou News meets all legal requirements to serve as an official paper of record.

The recognition allows local government entities to publish required legal notices in the Siskiyou News, fulfilling their obligations under California law. For residents, this means having a consistent, accessible source for information about public hearings, ordinances, and other official matters affecting our community.

This achievement reflects and reaffirms the newspaper’s commitment to serving our rural community with relevant news and essential information.

*column.us is putting the finishing touches on the new software that will be used to streamline the process.
