SCSO PRESS RELEASE
On February 24, 2025 at approximately 10:19 a.m., firefighters responded to a a reported structure fire near Rose Avenue in the City of Dunsmuir. Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) also responded to the scene.
One person was located deceased inside the structure by SCSO Deputies, along with a deceased dog. In order to determined what caused this tragic incident, multiple investigations will be ongoing. A comprehensive investigation into the cause and origin of the fire will be conducted along with an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death of the individual.
At this time, we are unable to provide the name of the individual who died in the fire until we can positively identify the person and make an official notification to the family.
