Obituary: Margaret B. Evans

Margaret B. Evans
October 14, 1933  –  February 23, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret Evans, who left us on February 23, 2025, after a beautiful life lived. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.

Margaret was born to Clarence and Margaret Olson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, on October 14, 1933. As one of eight children, Margaret learned early in life the valuable skill of nurturing and caring for others. At the age of 12, her family moved to Black River Falls, Wisconsin. It was here that she met the love of her life, Neil Evans, when he was stationed nearby while serving in the Army. They were married June 3, 1956, and moved west to Fort Jones, California, where they spent the next 6 years. In September 1962, they bought a house in Yreka, California, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Margaret enjoyed spending her days reading books, sewing, and watching old time movies. Above all, Margaret enjoyed playing board games, working puzzles, and teaching card games to all the grandkids and great-grandkids.

Those remaining to cherish Margaret’s memory are her sister, Barbara Knudsen of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Joe Suter of Yreka, daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Ken Ferguson of Citrus Heights, California, and son, Jeff Evans of Boise, Idaho. Also remaining to cherish her memory are her grandchildren Jason Suter (Nicole), Amy Chizek (Mickey), Brad Evans (Paige), Amanda Smirlis (Stacy), Trevor Ferguson, and Katheryn Evans (Ro), twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Margaret in death are her loving husband of 56 years, Neil Evans, daughter-in-law, Dee Evans, grandson, Kenneth Evans, her parents and six siblings.

Per Margaret’s wishes, no services are planned.
