The Atmospheric River and Park Fire combined to create flooding last week, when there was no grass or brush on the foothills to slow the rain and allow it to seep into the soil, thanks to the fire.
I had water on my front and back porch for the first time in the many years we have lived off Hogsback Road.ย Large chunks of wood and bark floated in the slough that ran through my pasture.ย I measured 5.95 or 6 inches of rain, in first seven days of February.
Salt Creek was so high and current so strong that the east and west fences around the hayfield were washed out, for the first time I can remember.
