Obituary: Bernard George “Bernie” Pinel

Bernard “Bernie” George Pinel passed away peacefully at Fairchild Medical Center on 4 March 2025 with his loving wife, Sheron by his side. Bernie was born on 29 November 1942. Bernie was a long-time Yreka resident.

Bernie worked as an LVN for Siskiyou General Hospital, Mercy Medical Center in Redding, and The Madrone Hospice. Also, he served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. He loved to sing in church, play pool, listen to music, dancing, art, and any and every do-it-yourself project (whether they were ever finished by him or someone else, we shall never know!!). He also was a volunteer at the Yreka Food Bank. He was always willing to help out persons in need, friends, and neighbors.

He was a loving; husband to his wife Sheron Pinel for 38 years; father to three step-sons; and grandfather to 7 grandchildren which he helped raise and mentor.

Bernie was preceded by death by his dad, Malcom Pinel; mom, Blanche Pinel; and his brother Danny Pinel.

He is survived by his wife, Sheron McCulley Pinel of Yreka, stepsons, Patrick Price and wife Judy of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Robert Price of Eutawville, South Carolina, and James Price and wife Tracy of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren Teresa, Timothy, Terry, Christopher, Geoffrey, Brendon and Kelsey. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.

Bernie always wanted people to laugh and feel welcomed. He was quite the jokester and had a witty sense of humor.

We welcome you to his Celebration of Life, which is scheduled for Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Grenada Community Berean Church located at 512 6th Street, Grenada, Ca. 96038.
