The Bureau of Reclamation’s Central Valley Operations Office has informed the Trinity River Restoration Program of the potential for unscheduled increases in flows from Lewiston Dam. The Clear Creek Tunnel, which is used to divert water to the Central Valley, is down for scheduled maintenance [November 6, Press Release]. With the predicted magnitude of the incoming winter storm, inflows into Lewiston Reservoir may require increasing flows from the dam on very short notice to prevent uncontrolled spill from the dam. Increases to Trinity River baseflow will depend on the severity of the storm locally to Lewiston Reservoir. Please note that dam releases may be ordered without notice.
Recreating along the Trinity River is not advised until the storm passes and flows recede. If you live along the river (or any tributaries), please make sure to move items from the river’s edge.
