Sheriff LaRue is proud to announce the appointment of two Resident Deputies assigned to the Scott Valley area: Deputies Tony Stacher and Deputy Matt Schauf. Though based out of Scott Valley, the Resident Deputies will also be proactively patrolling, responding to calls for service, and building relationships in other areas in this region to include Callahan, Sawyers Bar, Cecilville, Forks of Salmon, and Quartz Valley. We encourage everyone in this area to meet Deputies Stacher and Schauf, build relationships, and work together to make Siskiyou County stronger, safer, and more connected.
After years of staffing shortages, the Sheriff’s Office is making progress in regaining the staffing necessary to cover the 6,347 square mile county and fulfill Sheriff LaRue’s goal to reinstitute Resident Deputy posts throughout Siskiyou. With the re-establishment this post, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has expanded Resident Deputies to Butte Valley, Happy Camp, and Scott Valley. Sheriff LaRue is continuing to push for additional funding for Resident Deputy positions in McCloud and elsewhere to ensure all regions of our county receive adequate coverage and appropriate response times in emergencies.
