Siskiyou County Primary Election Results: Local Races Decided, State Contests Set for November

Siskiyou County voters cast ballots in the June 2, 2026 Statewide Primary Election, with all 56 precincts now reporting. Turnout reached 29.18%, with 8,054 voters participating out of 27,600 registered.
Several local races produced clear winners, while others will advance to the November general election under Californiaโs top-two primary system.
Local County Races
Assessor-Recorder
Roseann M. Kerr ran unopposed and won with 6,058 votes (100%).
Auditor-Controller
Incumbent Diane Olson defeated challenger Sherry Lawson. Olson received 4,082 votes (59.56%) to Lawsonโs 2,772 votes (40.44%).
County Supervisor โ District 3
Mario C. Burch won the seat with 927 votes (59.35%), defeating Bianca A. Garza, who received 635 votes (40.65%).
County Supervisor โ District 5
Benjamin L. Bishop narrowly won with 735 votes (50.52%) over Carl S. Hammond, who received 720 votes (49.48%).
County Superintendent of Schools
Allan S. Carver led with 3,029 votes (43.72%), followed by Mark Greenfield with 1,968 votes (28.41%) and Michelle Hogue with 1,931 votes (27.87%). The top two candidates advance to November.
Judge of the Superior Court โ Office 4
Kendall W. Hannon won with 4,544 votes (64.25%), defeating Michael Joseph DeArton, who received 2,528 votes (35.75%).
County Clerk
Laura Bynum ran unopposed and won with 6,309 votes (100%).
Treasurer-Tax Collector
Jennifer J. Taylor ran unopposed and won with 6,321 votes (100%).
Statewide and Federal Races (Siskiyou County Results)
Governor
Steve Hilton (Republican) led Siskiyou County with 2,697 votes (34.05%). Chad Bianco (Republican) placed second locally with 1,932 votes (24.39%). Democratic candidates trailed, with Xavier Becerra receiving 1,149 votes (14.51%) and Tom Steyer 1,013 votes (12.79%).
U.S. House of Representatives โ District 1 (Short Term)
James Gallagher (Republican) won decisively with 4,554 votes (58.91%). Audrey Denney (Democrat) received 2,067 votes (26.74%).
U.S. House of Representatives โ District 2
Incumbent Jared Huffman (Democrat) led with 2,041 votes (27.46%). The field was fragmented among Republican and other candidates.
State Assembly โ District 1
Heather Hadwick (Republican) won with 3,915 votes (51.49%), defeating Dianna Margaret James (Democrat), who received 2,705 votes (35.58%).
Other Statewide Offices
Republican candidates performed strongly in Siskiyou County across most constitutional offices, including Secretary of State, Controller, and Attorney General.
Local Ballot Measures
Two measures for the Weed Elementary School District both passed:
- Measure E: Yes โ 54.92%
- Measure F: Yes โ 54.15%
What Happens Next
Winners of uncontested or majority races (such as Assessor-Recorder, County Clerk, and Treasurer-Tax Collector) will take office after certification. Contested races where no candidate received more than 50% will see the top two vote-getters advance to the November 3, 2026 General Election.
