Our weekly digest

Here are the latest and greatest blog posts we published this past week.

My days (weeks) start around 4 AM scanning the satellite maps over coffee, catching wind of another lightning-sparked fire in the National Forest that would need coverage by noon. Between fielding calls from frustrated residents about the GPS rerouting disaster on I-5 (apparently sending city folks up mountain logging roads again), I managed to get that community forum piece about Fort Jones finished and posted. The afternoon was a juggling act – fact-checking the latest cannabis enforcement controversy while simultaneously trying to get quotes from the Sheriff’s office about the Blue Fire evacuation orders. By evening, I was editing a video, knowing that between the blackberry festival coverage, the ongoing litigation stories, and next county meeting, there’s never really an “end” to the day in Siskiyou County – just brief pauses between the next emergency alert or community event that needs documenting. The subscription reminder emails can wait until after I post the evening fire update.
