Residents of rural California all too often struggle to find a nearby doctor‚ let alone a specialist who can treat their specific ailment. Pharmacies can be a long drive away. Local hospitals run on the financial edge. Recruiting new providers to small towns is deeply challenging.
With $50 billion in federal funding available for Rural Health Transformation as part of the recent budget bill‚ the state is developing a plan to improve the access‚ quality and sustainability of health care in rural communities.
