Dillon Fire Update- Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 3, 2025

8,718 acres; 7% containment Weather Risks Persist

There is a continuing possibility of extreme fire activity today through Thursday. The weather instability brings a 15 percent chance of isolated dry thunderstorms. Conditions will be dry and windy with the possibility of spotting up to 3/4 of a mile ahead of the fire. Crews continue to look for opportunities to go direct around the fire’s perimeter where conditions allow.

Aircraft  was unable to fly most of the day Tuesday due to a thick layer of smoke decreasing pilot visibility. The spot fire across the  Klamath River from the Dillon Creek Campground has hose lay down to the Klamath River.  Crews actively worked on structure defense all day to reinforce structure protection.

Crews will continue to reinforce the line along Beans Ridge to protect spread to the south. The main fire east of the Klamath River along Highway 96 is holding and crews continue to strengthen the line.

Firefighters are working closely with resource advisors and cultural resource specialists to ensure natural and cultural resources are protected.

Additional firefighting resources are arriving daily. Motorists should be advised of increased traffic on Highway 96. There is limited one-way traffic control on Highway 96 at various locations from 10.7 miles west to 2.2 miles west of Cottage Grove due to fire operations.

Evacuations and Closures:

There is a possibility of intermittent closures of Highway 96 in the area of Seiad Valley if fire activity increases. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

The Six Rivers National Forest has issued a forest closure order in the vicinity of the Dillon Fire. More information can be found at www.linktr.ee/srffirepio.

All the structures in the Ti-Bar area have been placed in a level 3-GO status, Somes Bar, Calif.

Below are the current evacuation order and warning zones for the Dillon Fire.

  • Evacuation ORDERS: SIS-1405, SIS-1402-A, SIS-1503-A, SIS-1509A, SIS-1509-B and SIS-1506.
  • Evacuation WARNINGS: SIS-1402B, 1509C, SIS-1604, SIS-1503-B, SIS-1300, SIS-1301 and SIS-1408.
