Mt. Shasta Police Department Ensures Swift Arrest in Violent Home Invasion and Vehicle Theft Case

MT. SHASTA, CA — On January 25, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, the Mt. Shasta Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a violent assault and burglary. The victim reported that her nephew, 33-year-old Tyler Wade Myers, forcibly entered her residence, physically assaulted her by strangulation, and fled the scene in her stolen vehicle.

Officers arrived promptly, provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, and initiated an investigation. Authorities determined the stolen vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 5. A coordinated “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert was issued to regional law enforcement agencies.

The vehicle was intercepted near Walters Lane on Interstate 5, just south of Yreka. Myers was apprehended through a collaborative effort by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) – Yreka, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, and Mt. Shasta Police Department. Despite initial resistance, Myers was taken into custody without injury to officers or the public.

Myers has been booked into Siskiyou County Jail on multiple felony charges, including:

  • Attempted Murder (Penal Code 664/187 PC)
  • Motor Vehicle Theft (Vehicle Code 10851 CVC)
  • Burglary (Penal Code 459 PC)

The Mt. Shasta Police Department extends its gratitude to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, CHP – Yreka, and Yreka Police Department for their rapid response and partnership, which ensured the suspect’s swift capture and mitigated potential harm to the community.
