Board of Supervisors’ Chambers
311 Fourth Street
Yreka, California
Staff and the consultant team (Mintier Harnish) will facilitate a workshop between the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission to present the Draft Community Vision and Guiding Principles for the County General Plan. This workshop will include a list of comments received from the community and the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Comments received during the study session will be considered in preparation of the Final Community Vision and Guiding Principles. A vision statement reflects what community members value most about the county and their shared aspirations for the future. The vision statement sets the direction for the General Plan’s goals, policies, and implementation programs for the next 20 years.
The meeting with include opportunity for public input. Please join us!
A general plan’s vision and guiding principles provide direction and introduce key themes. All the goals, policies, and implementation programs must be consistent with the vision and guiding principles.
- What is a Vision? A vision statement is an aspirational description of what the community would like to be in the future.
- What are Guiding Principles? At the heart of the General Plan are “Guiding Principles” that express the key values and aspirations for Siskiyou County’s future and act as guideposts for the goals, policies, and implementation measures contained within the General Plan.
Use the button below to download draft vision statements and guiding principles developed by the General Plan Team in direct response to the community feedback received in June and July 2024. Given the diverse range of priorities expressed by the community, distilling these aspirations into a single statement and set of principles is challenging. Therefore, the General Plan Team has included three options as a starting point for further discussion and refinement.
