Carmaleta Cadola Obituary

Longtime Yreka resident Carmaleta Cadola passed away on May 9, 2024 in Yreka. She was 90 years young.

Carm was born on August 15, 1933 in Waynesville, Missouri to Dolphus Clyde and Bertie Irene Volner. She was the second of four children. Carm moved to Fort Jones in 1950, where she graduated high school and met William (Bill) Eugene Cadola.

Carm married Bill on July 29, 1951 in Nogales, Arizona. Bill worked for a lumber company before beginning his career with the USDA Forest Service in Fire and Aviation. In 1970 Carm and Bill moved to Yreka from Happy Camp with their three children, Bill, Mike and Carol. Carm worked at Jackson Street Elementary School for a few years, was active in her church, and volunteered at The Hospice Shop for several years.

Carm loved playing golf, bowling, and watching her Arizona Wildcats football and basketball teams play on TV. She was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, and would watch them play whenever she could. Watching her grandkids grow up and all the sports they participated in gave her great pleasure. She also found time to put together puzzles, reading, and working in the yard. She was always playing cards and board games with her friends. With all of that happening, she found time to create numerous beautiful crochet items for family and friends. Family gatherings were a special favorite of hers. Seeing everyone together gave her special joy.

She has now joined her husband of 50 years, Bill. She is survived by her children Bill and wife Sharon Cadola, Mike and Carol Cadola; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Trista and Carl Bennett and their children Tyler, Tanner and Taylyn, Doug and Katrina Bannon and their children Katelyn and Emily, Tevin and Lyndi Cadola, Jordan and Breanna VanAvery, Dustin Robinson and his daughters Ellie and Kara, and Stephanie and Branden Belk.

In lieu of flowers, Carm would like that you please remember St. Jude’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929, or Rescue Ranch, P.O. Box 1192, Yreka, CA 96097. The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff of Yreka Madrone Hospice, and a very, very special thanks to her long time caregiver, Carol Brooks.
