Obituary for Jerri Müns

Jerlene Marie Goetz Müns, of Etna, Calif., known to her friends as Jerri, passed away in Weed, Calif. on March 13, 2024, at the age of 78.

Jerri was born on June 8, 1945 to Charles Alfred Shrubsall and Ethelda Moose in Albany, California. Her birth name was Nancy Patricia Shrubsall. She had five half siblings. She had one full sibling. Jerri was adopted at a few months old by Arthur William Goetz of North Dakota and Rose Myrtle Rhynes from Arkansas. Jerri was renamed after her adopted grandmothers, who were both named Jerlene.

Her father owned Goetz Brothers Lumber with his brother Walter. He discovered Scott Valley for the first time when he came up to purchase lumber in 1952, when Jerri was seven years old.

She was married to James Richard White Sr. on October 14, 1964 in Nampa, Idaho. She had five children: Tiny Tim White; James Richard White Jr.; Johnathan Ray White; Joseph Robert White; and Nancy Marie White, who was adopted and renamed Kimberly “Gia” Anne Echert-Kabula.

Jerri remarried Fred David Müns on December 4, 1974. Fred adopted James, Johnathan and Robert.

Jerri’s children Johnathan and Tiny Tim predeceased her in death, as well as her parents. She is survived by her husband Fred and children James, Robert and Kimberly.

She was known for her hospitality and would take in stray animals and children to help turn their lives around by giving them hope. She led many of these children to a relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, including her children. She was an artist who loved painting and drawing. She loved to dance and taught all her boys how to dance. 

Jerri was always industrious and would find work to take care of her family. She was a Boy Scout leader in Rockland, Calif. and Nampa, Idaho. 

There will be a memorial celebration of life at Girdner Funeral Chapel at 202 S. Oregon St., in Yreka, Calif. on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. Pastor Phillip Johnson will be officiating. She will be buried at Cherokee Memorial in Lodi, Calif.
