Obituary

Helen Mae Graham Bellairs, 91 of Rogue River, Oregon passed away peacefully on Monday July 3, 2023, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Helen was one of 13 children born to Callie and Benjamin Graham on May 4, 1932. She spent her early life in Pensacola, Florida where she became a wife and mother to 3 boys Jim, Charles and Bob, at a young age. When that marriage did not work out, Helen found herself single with two of her three boys.

It wasn’t long and Helen would meet the love of her life, Richard “Dick” J. Bellairs. Dick and Helen were married on May 7, 1955, in Leakesville, Mississippi, and soon after they moved with Helen’s two boys to Southern California. Together Dick and Helen had two more children, Rick and Denise.

Helen’s life was full while her boys were young as she volunteered with the PTA and their Little League Baseball teams. They would also enjoy taking the boys camping and fishing up and down the west coast. Then as the children grew Helen became involved with Eastern Star as well as Women of the Moose, achieving the position of Senior Regent.

She would eventually go back to work and after 20 plus years with Voishan, Helen retired in 1992. In the winter of 1996, she and Dick moved from Torrance, California to build their dream home in Montague where she and Dick lived together until 2000 when Dick passed away. Helen continued to live in Yreka enjoying a full life of volunteering for CASA and other charities as well as participating in the lunch bags and the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed traveling both with her husband and later with her daughter and sister Nancy. Helen loved flowers, hummingbirds and wind chimes just to name a few.

Helen is survived by her four sons: Jim & Kay Sisk of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Charles & Mary Bellairs of Sacramento, Bob & Chris Bellairs of Montague, and Rick and Cari Bellairs of Shelby, North Carolina: one daughter Denise & Kevin Maher of Rogue River, Oregon, plus10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday July 12 at 10:00 am at Girdner Funeral Chapel followed by an Eastern Star Service at Evergreen Cemetery. All are welcome.
