Important Update: Changes to Our News Platform
Dear valued readers,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to share some important updates about our community news platform and the challenges we’re currently facing.
Current Situation
- Running this platform has become overwhelming for a single person.
- Despite hopes for community contributions (letters to the editor, community columns), we haven’t received the engagement we anticipated.
- Balancing social media management, interviews, video production, and writing is proving to be unsustainable.
Financial Realities
- Professional writers, understandably, expect compensation for their work.
- There are significant monthly costs associated with maintaining our paywalled website and various administrative services.
- These expenses have been personally covered to provide free news and information to our community.
Necessary Changes
To ensure the longevity of this platform and improve the quality of our content, we need to make some changes:
- We will begin utilizing our paywall as originally intended.
- This step is necessary to potentially hire additional help and build a sustainable news source.
Supporting Our Community
- We understand this change may impact some of our readers.
- For those on fixed incomes, disabled, or unable to pay, we’re offering a special coupon code: “fixedincome”
- This code will grant free membership to the website.
Moving Forward
I recognize that some may be disappointed by this decision. As a consumer of news myself, I understand the frustration of encountering paywalls. However, this step is crucial for the survival and growth of our platform.
Your understanding and support during this transition are deeply appreciated. Together, we can build a stronger, more sustainable source of community news and information.
Thank you for your continued readership and support.
