Betty Joan Davis Carrier of Little Shasta Valley passed away peacefully at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, California on July 23, 2024.
Betty was born in Yreka in 1932, grew up on the Davis family ranch, in Little Shasta Valley, helping with cattle operations, and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in interior design.
After college, Betty worked in San Francisco at a department store before joining the Forest Service where she met her husband, Jim Carrier, on the Klamath River. Betty and Jim lived in various towns on the Klamath and Trinity Rivers and had their two sons, John and Mark. The family then moved to Foresthill, CA.
The family relocated back to the Davis Ranch in 1983 where Betty joined many organizations, including the Historical Society, Hospital Guild, Welcome Wagon, Trail Riders, Cattlewomen, among others. During this time she was the valley Avon Lady, where she stayed connected to so many people in the community. She rekindled old friendships and fostered many new ones and loved them all.
In her younger years, Betty created many oil paintings of wildlife and nature, and loved making stained glass creations, as well as a few quilts.
Betty is survived by her two sons, John and Mark, and two grandsons, Michael and Tyler.
