Obituary
Wesley Gene Wilson went to his rest in the Lord on August 25, 2023, at the age of 81, in his hometown of Etna, California. While his passing was sudden and unexpected, he went to his rest peacefully in his home.
Wes was born in Beaver, Oklahoma, and grew up in Paramount, California. Eventually he moved to Scott Valley in Northern California. There he married his wife Laura and raised his childrenโฆ Sherry, David, Sarah, and Jacob. He is survived by his four children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wes loved the outdoors, and enjoyed taking his family hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing in the mountains and wilderness areas of Northern California and Southern Oregon, or swimming and sailing in the many lakes in the region. He took many spectacular photographs of the valley and the wildlife and beauty he found here. In later years he took up paragliding, taking to the skies to soar with the hawks and eagles he had spent so much time watching before.
Wes loved people, and he loved the Lord. He helped to build the Scott Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church where it stands today. Wes volunteered his time, taking care of the church grounds and building, and helping elderly church members. He also gave his time to outreach programs like the Maranatha Project, devoting his efforts to building and improving schools, churches, and helping with disaster relief projects. Wes was also active with the SDA Church choir for several years.
Wes Wilson will be remembered by family and friends in a loving memorial service at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 9th at the Scott Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Following the service Wes will be laid to rest in the beautiful surroundings of the Etna Cemetery in Old Etna, California. He will rest in the Lord next to his beloved wife Laura Wilson, who preceded him in death, under the oaks in the shadow of the peaceful mountains that were his beloved home for so many years.
