Obituary: Cressa M. Bayuk

Cressa M. Bayuk
June 1, 1925  –  November 11, 2025

Cressa M. Bayuk was born on June 1, 1925 in Los Angeles, and on November 11, 2025 she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Cressa was an active, fun loving, and independent woman. Like many of her generation she lived a full and purposeful life. She was a member of the โ€œRosie the Riveterโ€ brigade assembling aircraft in Los Angeles during WWII and for many years worked as a hospital nurse in Los Angeles.

Cressa met her husband to be, Robert โ€œDocโ€ Bayuk in LA. The two married in 1949 and moved to Yreka in 1951 where together they established Robertโ€™s medical practice. Her life in Yreka was devoted to Robert and their three children; Cressa, Dana, and Christopher. In addition to caring for her family and assisting Robert when needed, Cressa pursued interests in breeding German Shepards and teaching skiing at Mt. Shasta. In her later years Cressaโ€™s life revolved around conversations with friends, visits from family, and the pleasures of daily tasks, especially walks with her dogs.

Cressa is survived by her daughter Cressa, her son Dana, four grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. We will always remember her laugh that came often and easily, and her smile which she continued to share even in her final days.

Consistent with Cressaโ€™s wishes, funeral and memorial services will not be held. Instead of sending a gift of condolence, please consider making a donation to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097 and/or Rescue Ranch, PO Box 1192, Yreka, CA 96097.

Cressa enjoyed her life in Siskiyou County and was pleased to call Yreka home. The Bayuk family sends their thoughts and sincere thanks to the people in the community who enriched Cressaโ€™s life and meant so much to her.
