Maylon Friday was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at home in McCloud, California, at 89, with her husband and family by her side.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Friday; her children, Bob Friday, Susan Callaghan, and Truely Hutchinson; her twin sister, Maylene McCoach; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Maylon was born in McCloud. As the daughter of a sheep rancher in the 1940s, her family walked their sheep between ranches, spending winters in Red Bluff and summers in McCloud.
Maylon and Robert were childhood friends. After Robert returned from military service, he saw her again at the McCloud pool. They reconnected and later married, sharing 67 years together. In 1986, they built and ran an RV park on their McCloud ranch until her passing.
Maylonโs passion was teaching kindergarten. Her beloved Nursery Rhyme Motherโs Day Tea and the stick horses she helped students create for the Red Bluff Round-Up Parade were among her favorite traditions.
Maylonโs life reflected forgiveness, love, and dedication. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. She now rests in Godโs embrace. Details about memorial services will be shared at a later date.
