Sisq Writers’ Club: Poem Titled – “New Year”

By Jess W. ward

New Year

The old year is ending, and Grandfather Time is looking for a baby brand new.

He turned his hourglass over for the last time and looked on his year in review.

At first, he believed that life in his time would be gentle and kind.

But fickle fate had other plans in mind.

Former trials and tribulations would soon be safe in the past.

When the year’s clock finally ticked its last.

On his last faltering step, Grandfather finally did fall.

In that same magic instance, a new

baby moved forward in a crawl.

The old year is over, and a new one has begun.

A bright new day is dawning under a brilliant new sun.

So, breathe the air, It’s fresher now.

Smell the grass, It’s greener now.

Hear laughter’s resonance, It’s keener now.

See horizons new promise, It’s brighter now.

All your turpitudes and transgressions are locked safely in the past.

And you are free to realize your ambitions at last.
