The Moon will be full on February 1, early in the afternoon. This is one of my favorite times of the year; the seed catalogs are here and Groundhog Day was Monday. This may be the first opportunity to do some active gardening. I had no Alisa Craig onion seed, and the catalog didnโt either soโฆIโll be planting the sets in trays to get them a head start. Until then I will continue to share my thoughts on how to ride the waves of these changing times.
We are in the midst of a huge transformation; some would say an evolutionary shift. Our Planet, Solar System and Galaxy are crossing into a new cosmological era. As we leave the Kali Yuga, the darkest phase of the Yuga Cycle, we are also entering the Age of Aquarius, signifying a move toward communities built on cooperation, reciprocity and collaboration. The eleven-year solar cycle is at its maximum, spewing energies and frequencies as well as going through its recurring pole shift which happens every cycle. So, cycles upon cycles within cycles, upon cycles, we live in a spinning Universe and many cycles are converging at this time.
An analogy for these times, for me, is the lifecycle of the butterfly. The larval phase, the caterpillar, spends its life span eating and eating and eating, bulking up to 1,000 times its body mass. Iโve seen one caterpillar strip a tree branch within a couple of days. This is the stage weโve been in since the Industrial Revolutionbegan in the late 1700โs.
The caterpillar begins to build a chrysalis after a week or so and enters its cocoon phase. Once inside the cocoon a signal is sent which simultaneously sparks the dissolution of the caterpillar and the inception of the โImaginal Cells,โ which have been waiting to be switched on. The resulting soup is what nourishes these cells. These Imaginal Cells carry a dormant blueprint of the butterfly, specifically for developing antennae, legs and wings. As an aside, โImaginalโ comes from the Latin term โimagoโ and refers to the mature, perfected and usually winged, phase of an insect following its pupal hibernation.
After the emergence of the butterfly, it spends another couple hours unfolding its wings. If an outside force attempts to assist, at this point, the wings will become deformed and the butterfly dies.

Folks, we are in the chaotic soup right now. The โImaginal cellsโ are all around us to keep the momentum of metamorphosis going. Those of us who can โkeep our heads when everyone around us is losing theirs,โ are the Imaginal cells. We all carry the blueprint for our transformation. Not everyone has remembered, we are more than what we appear to be. Havenโt you felt the angst of our apparent devolution? Arenโt we better than this!
There are no accidents in the game of evolution. Everything happens for a reason and the workings of the Universe are NOT random. We can (and do) learn from our mistakes, diseases, mishaps. The caterpillar’s liquefaction in the cocoon is not a mistake; it is a phase of becoming perfected.
I can attest to this learning and benefitting from catastrophe. From the trials of developmental PTSD (years 2 to 68), to an ovarian cancer diagnosis at age 28 (4 surgeries and no insurance), to a traumatic accident (again, no insurance) which left me unconscious for five days, with broke bones, popped lung and a traumatized brain, I have developed the habit of looking up towards heaven and asking, โwhat is it, why is this happening?!โ I can even see that the early abandonment and rejection of my mother (mamaji) served a purpose; to find the mother within me and redeem my value, my worth. Iโve come to believe itโs not happening to me, maybe itโs happening for me. Iโve come to call these AFGOs (another f#%king growth opportunity).
Maybe these changes are happening to help us realize there is more to life than money, power and things. Maybe itโs time to reintroduce simplicity and really Live.
There is much more to life than meets the eye. There is so much magic afoot and a lot of it is invisible. Can you tune into it? Imagine you are a radio station. Your frequency resonates with other like frequencies and attracts them to you. โA man is what he thinks aboutโ(Ralph Waldo Emerson). What have you been thinking about or tuning into? What have you been broadcasting? Maybe its time to tune in and make choices that support what your heart wants?!
In the meantime, remember, time spent in Nature, near a creek or walking in the woods, helps you feel lighter and makes the world look brighter.
