HARTS Rescue, a nonprofit organization serving Siskiyou County, California, and Jackson and Josephine counties in Oregon, is asking for community support after its primary emergency rescue vehicle suffered a transmission failure while evacuating horses from a wildfire.
The organization provides emergency evacuation assistance for livestock, pets, and other animals during wildfires and other disasters. According to HARTS Rescue, the breakdown has significantly reduced its ability to respond to emergencies, leaving families and their animals at greater risk when every minute counts.
To help return the rescue truck to service, HARTS Rescue has launched a GoFundMe campaign. Community members who would like to support the effort can donate through the fundraiser at:
