The Greenhorn Community Grange #384 is gearing up for a busy summer with two new events aimed at bringing neighbors together around food, creativity and friendly competition.
The Grange, which rechartered last February, has been working to revive its community mission through hands-on programming. Its flagship Homestead Series, launched last June, offers monthly workshops where participants learn practical skills from gardening and food preservation to baking and DIY repairs.
“Through monthly workshops, neighbors come together to learn practical skills that support greater self-sufficiency and resilience,” said Grange Lecturer Lauralee Wallace. The $15 workshops send participants home with something they’ve created, from container herb gardens and sourdough bread to canned preserves and decorative serving trays.
