Among the more serious charges this week, a Yreka woman faces arson charges after allegedly setting fire to an inhabited structure on North Foothill Lane on New Year’s Eve, with bail set at $100,000. A Sky Valley man was booked on kidnapping, child abuse, criminal threats, and vehicle theft charges following an incident at the Pilot truck stop in Weed, also with bail set at $100,000. An Etna man faces felony domestic violence and child abuse charges after an incident on Island Road. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day saw a spike in DUI and disorderly conduct arrests across the county, with multiple alcohol-related bookings at Gold Rush Burgers in Yreka and various locations along I-5.
