The Etna Lions dominated their home Tip-Off Tournament January 2-3, with both varsity squads claiming championship titles.
The varsity girls cruised through the bracket, opening with a 46-10 rout of Butte Valley and capping the tournament with a 53-35 victory over Plumas Charter of Greenville. Rachel Merrihew led the way with 16 points in the championship game and earned Tournament MVP honors. Teammate Maddie Shickle was named to the All-Tournament team.
The varsity boys matched that success, defeating Butte Valley 61-29 in their opener before topping Lost River 41-26 in the final.
Collin Jenner paced the Lions throughout, scoring 20 points against Butte Valley—hitting 9 of 11 from the free throw line—and adding 14 in the championship win.
