California Interagency Incident Management Team 10 (CIIMT10) assumed command of the fire at 0600 today, July 7, 2025. CIIMT10 will continue the fire using full suppression tactics.
The fireโs location in a thermal belt is causing it to move uphill throughout the night. Nocturnal down canyon winds in the Flat Creek drainage are also causing slow but active downhill fire through dry fuels.
Today, Crews and equipment on the West side of the fire will begin construction of primary lines near Salt Creek Road and the Didallas Creek area to connect to existing dozer line from the 2024 Shoe Fire. On the East side of the fire, equipment is actively improving the Fenders Ferry Road so crews and equipment can access the ridgeline between Ripgut Creek and Fenders Ferry Rd.
Three helicopters assigned to the incident are making water drops to slow the progression of the fire, while firefighters are working with heavy equipment on opening roads adjoining identified holding features to create a containment line. Our objectives are to keep the fire east of Didallas Creek, west of the 27 Road, between Fenderโs Ferry Bridge and Goose Gap and north of the Pit River.
