Nancy O’Brion passed away on June 22, 2025 at Shasta View Estates in Weed. She was 83 years old.
Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was born on July 27, 1941 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Henry and Ella Zinzer. Nancy married Jim O’Brion Sr. while working at Boeing Airlines in Washington. She and Jim welcomed a daughter, Verna L. O’Brion. Shortly after, Jim took a job as a custodian at Montague Elementary School. They welcomed their second child, James S. O’Brion II (Jimmy). After Jim retired in 1980, they moved and bought their home in Yreka where Nancy was a housewife and had a few side jobs. Nancy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When Jim died in 1994, she continued to live in Yreka for many years. Due to health reasons, she moved into Shasta View Estates where she lived until her passing.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Verna (aka Penguin) Rudd; her son, Jim (Tracy) O’Brion; and her stepson, Patrick (Edith) O’Brion; her brother Hank (Deb); and sisters Mary (Don), Phyllis (Mel), Dianne (Bob), and Delores; her granddaughters, Julie, Sadie and Isabella; and several nieces, nephews and cousins along with her friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents, a brother and a sister.
There will be a small memorial service at the graveside at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM if anyone would like to attend. The family wants to give a big thank you to Tammy, Jackie, and the rest of the staff at Shasta View Estates.
