The little town of McCloud celebrates the holiday season in a big way.

If families missed Santa coming to town on the first Friday night of December, the following day was Kidโs Day with many fun holiday activities that drew children with their families in tow from Oregon in the north, and Redding, Anderson, and even further from the south.

As expected, the Grinch showed up with his big dog Max to thrill kids with his antics while Santa and his helpful elf learned what good little children wanted for Christmas.

Crafts and activities followed throughout the day occupying the little ones with fun things to make and bring home. Some crafts included wall hangings, wooden Christmas tree building, coloring, building little snowmen, and much more.
A horse parade through town entertained people, the local choir sang popular holiday songs throughout the day, a horse-drawn wagon offered rides down Main Street, and exhibits were enjoyed. The magic show by Delbert Lee was immensely popular along with his assistant making balloon figures of all kinds for children, while holiday munchies were gobbled up, but best of all, it was all free.

Many town volunteers were on hand to help in the fun through the McCloud Chamber of Commerce and the McCloud Community Resource Center.
โThe smiles from these happy kids enjoying themselves just makes my heart so full of joy,โ says Judy Sarti, one of the main planners of the events.โ

The American Legion held its annual Santaโs Shoppe for children to buy affordable holiday gifts for their whole family. The McCloud Hotel offered a relaxing lunch or tea break for folks while enjoying mellow guitar music performed by Rick Garrett.

The plans for continued holiday activities in the weeks ahead include:
the Character Breakfast at the McCloud River Inn, the Innkeepers, Church and Historical building tour, Christmas Movie Night, and the Holiday fair. A special performance of Voena, a cappella San Francisco Bay Area childrenโs singing group will be held at the Mercantile Great Room. There will be an admission fee for this event.
