Scott Timothy Peterson, lovingly called “Pops,” left us on November 17, 2024. Scott was born on December 28, 1962 in Orange, California. He grew up in Santa Ana and attended Santa Ana High School, where he met the love of his life, Lynn Ostrowski. Their love blossomed throughout high school, and they set out on their life path together with a beautiful marriage ceremony on Valentine’s Day, 1987.
Scott was just 5 years old when he earned his first paycheck from General Paving Co. The day after graduating high school in 1982, he set out on his career path with the same company. He began with changing tires, progressed as a laborer and then to a skilled heavy equipment operator. In 2004, he proudly co-founded Peterson Grading & Paving.
In Southern California’s asphalt industry, Scott earned a stellar reputation as one of the finest heavy equipment operators. His exceptional skills, combined with a genuine pride in his work and a commitment to being the hardest worker on every job site, truly set him apart. Everyone admired his dedication and passion for what he did.
Beyond his accomplished career, Scott was a deeply devoted husband and father who cherished his family above all else. Over nearly 38 wonderful years of marriage, he and his wife created the loving, tight-knit family he had always hoped for. He and Lynn fiercely loved their three wonderful children: James (JD), Jake and Rachel. He attended every sporting event for his children and loved sharing his enthusiasm for fitness in the gym with them. Being a dad and husband brought him immense joy, showcasing the beautiful connection he had with his family. Scott’s legacy of love and dedication will forever inspire those who knew him.
In 2023, Scott began transitioning from work to retirement. He and Lynn had put together their dream home in Yreka, complete with horses and a barn, and were happily enjoying the country lifestyle Lynn had always envisioned. Besides the many tasks that kept him busy at home, he found time to contribute to his new community by volunteering with the Veteran’s Assistance Program. He loved splitting firewood for such a good cause and especially enjoyed being able to do this with his wife and daughter Rachel. Scott also continued his passion for weightlifting in his home gym, working out daily with Lynn, who was his favorite workout partner, and with his friends.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife Lynn, sons James and Jake, daughter Rachel, daughter-in-law Samantha, and mother-in-law Sally.
