Corky Arkfeld, 80, of Yreka, California, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024. Corky was born on September 23, 1943 and grew up in Kingsley, Iowa.
Corky was dedicated and hard-working. After raising her four daughters, she spent over 30 years at the local cable company. Following her retirement, she turned her full attention to serving her community.
An active member of Grenada Community Berean Church, Corky was a driving force behind numerous ministries and went on mission trips to Canada and Mexico. Her church family held her in high regard for her strong faith in the Lord, kindness, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
Known for always putting others before herself, Corky was a friend to many. After retirement, she gave her time volunteering at local homeless shelters, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping those in need. Corky lived in Yreka for 55 years and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Corky is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Bicego, Tracy Tathwell, Kristi Wilson, and Sherry Arkfeld, sons-in-law, Rob Bicego and Todd Tathwell, and her grandchildren, Ryan Tathwell, Katie Bicego, Martin Kussler, David Tathwell, and Ethan Wilson. She is also survived by six siblings and many nieces and nephews. Corky was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Teter and her parents, Roy and Dorothy Schieuer.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Grenada Community Berean Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Pastures of Grace Women’s Program (pasturesofgrace.com) or Rockside Ranch (rocksideranch.squarespace.com/etna)
