Red Bluff, CA – The JR HIGH District 1 California High School Rodeo Association kicked off its season with an exciting event on September 13-14, 2024. Young cowboys and cowgirls from across Northern California showcased their skills in various rodeo events, demonstrating the bright future of the sport.

Event Highlights
Chute Dogging
Cole Hannah from Likely took top honors with an impressive time of 2.58 seconds, followed closely by Carson Cash of Montague at 4.60 seconds.
Boys Goat Tying
Colt Bray of Montague clinched first place with a time of 10.38 seconds, narrowly beating Trenton McGrew from Vacaville who finished at 10.61 seconds.
Team Roping
The duo of Brylee Small (Fall River Mills) and Grady Owens emerged victorious with a time of 14.87 seconds.
Girls Breakaway Roping
In an unexpected turn of events, no contestants managed to score in this challenging event.
Girls Goat Tying
Brylee Small of Fall River Mills dominated the event with a remarkable time of 9.35 seconds, setting herself apart from the competition.
Barrel Racing
In a thrilling finish, Brylee Small continued her successful run by winning the barrel racing event with a time of 18.082 seconds, just edging out Hayden Hansen of Fort Jones who clocked in at 18.216 seconds.
Rising Stars
Several young athletes demonstrated exceptional skill across multiple events:
- Brylee Small (Fall River Mills): Victories in Girls Goat Tying and Barrel Racing, plus a win in Team Roping.
- Carson Cash (Montague): Strong performances in Chute Dogging, Boys Breakaway, and Ribbon Roping.
- Tucker Martson (Biggs): Showed versatility with placements in Chute Dogging, Tie Down Roping, and Boys Goat Tying.
