This formal attire affair was unparalleled to any glamorous event ever held inย Siskiyou County in recent years as Grenada Gardens Senior Living facility hosted the 2nd annual Casino Royal Gala, benefiting Madrone Hospice. The James Bond-inspired affair transformed the venue into a high-stakes adventure, complete with a red carpet, mock paparazzi, and an atmosphere of excitement.

Guests, dressed in formal attire, were greeted by the flash of cameras as they made their grand entrance. The evening’s highlights included:
- Stirred-not-shaken martinis
- Poker tables hosted by the Jefferson Undergrown Poker Room
- DJ Yaran spinning festive tunes
- A buffet of delectable hors d’oeuvres
- Big prizes and exciting games

One popular activity was Mingle Bingo, which encouraged guests to interact and learn about each other’s unique experiences, from quilt-making to living overseas.
The event wasn’t just about glitz and glamour; it served a greater purpose. Chris Clother, executive director of Madrone Hospice, praised the collaboration: “This resort-style facility is one-of-a-kind in the county. Yreka is blessed to have Madrone and this facility in such a small town.”

Residents of Grenada Gardens also joined in the festivities. Carol Huston, a four-year resident, shared, “This party is something else. It’s nice to see people dressed up so formally and having a good time.”

As the red carpet was rolled out for this high-stakes, James Bond-style adventure.ย People walked up the red carpet and past the mock paparazzi to have their photo taken; stepping into the world of 007 to sip on stirred-not-shaken martinis and taking their chances at the poker tables hosted by local Texas Hold-em players who call themselves the Jefferson Undergrown Poker Room. Big prizes were awarded while enjoying the buffet-style hors dโoeuvres. The DJ Yaran, played festive music throughout the evening to fit the crowd. ย Other games and fundraising events were also available on this night of excitement and adventure.
A game of Mingle Bingo got people to know others while trying to get information to fill their bingo cards. To fill out their bingo card they had to find other people in the party who had done what was listed on their bingo cards, like making quilts, sleep-walking, living overseas, or owning an unusual pet, etc. There was also a silent auction and a raffle so nobody was walking away empty-handed.ย
Among the party-goers enjoying the fun and excitement of this evening were also some of the residents of Granada Gardens.

โI felt so isolated living alone at home. Here, we regularly enjoy activities like painting, senior exercise programs,ย cinema nights, and outings while making new friends. This party is something else. It is nice to see people dressed up so formally and having a good time.โ
