Earth Day Festival — A Learning and Cleansing Experience

The Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center has once again hosted the Earth Day Festival at Mount Shasta Park. The Center has organized this educational and entertaining event for over 30 years. Along with 34 vendors offering crafts, handmade jewelry, and plants, there were also educational booths for visitors of all ages. Attendees took part in a water blessing after the opening by Earth Circle Drum, went on guided nature walks, and learned about what the earth has to offer. Activities included mushroom identification, bunny identification, watershed science demonstrations, making seed balls, and much more.

In the Kids’ Camp, children enjoyed a papier-mâché parade, games, planting seeds, and various activities throughout the day.

There were scheduled presentations in the Lower Lodge on home hardening, mycology, and living soils/permaculture.

Live music filled the day, and in the evening the Sundown Poachers, and Love Mischief out of Sacramento — performed indoors throughout the evening as part of a fundraiser to help support the free event earlier in the day.

Admission to the Earth Day Festival was free.
