Mary Isabelle Paletta Jackson, aged 105, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Carmichael, CA after a brief illness. She was born in McCloud, CA to Italian immigrants Michele Paletta and Rosina Mazzei Paletta.
She lived her early years in Weed, CA, and in several other cities over the years to include San Francisco, Hollywood, Colusa, Sacramento. Auburn, Mt Shasta and ultimately Carmichael.
She met Millard ‘Jack’ Jackson while she was working as a photographer at the Hollywood Palladium in 1945. They were married for 58 years until his death in 2004.
She is survived by three children: Nancy Schlag (Bob), Larry Jackson (Charlotte) and Janet Jackson and two grandchildren: Michael and Erik. Nancy’s marriage to Bob also gave her 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her father and mother, sister Lucy Earhart and brother Vincent Paletta.
Mary worked as an assistant manager for Sprouse Reitz Variety Store alongside Jack for more than 30 years. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and loved to cook her ‘famous’ spaghetti for family and friends.
She was an active member at St. Anthony’s Church in Mt. Shasta, including the Altar Society and as a Eucharistic Minister. She relocated to Fair Oaks Estates Assisted Living in 2017 where she was a resident until her death. She loved to play bingo and color.
We give a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Fair Oaks Estates. They took very good care of her and made her later years quite enjoyable.
Funeral Services will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony’s Church, 967 Pine Street, Mt. Shasta, CA with burial at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park and Chapel, 830 Lassen Lane, Mt. Shasta.
