After four years, it is nice to catch a glimps of football players pacticing in the field at McCloud High School as the Central Valley High School Falcons come for Team Football Camp again in McCloud. Central Valley High School is at Shasta Lake City and are in the Northern Athletic League (NAL), Division 3. This division is for schools under 1000 but over 500 students. Central Valley High has 540 students in their school this year.
Before Covid, Cascade Football camp would fill the fields with football teams from different school meeting up at the end of the summer for a week of drills, bonding, and getting out of the heat of Shasta County. They did this for about 10 to 12 years.

Head Coach: Kyle Anderson
Head Coach Kyle Anderson says, “I think we will have a good year this year. We have a lot of kids on our junior varsity team and we have had good turn outsย Their record last year was 5 and 6. They lost in the playoff game. But itย was theย best finished Central Valley had since 2013.”
With a trailer filled with gear in tow, 3 school vans, 8 coaches, and three mothers came with theย students toย stay in McCloud for 5 days.ย A group of mothers donated and prepared food beforehand.
“The McCloud School has been very generous letting us use their facility. We have total use of the kitchen and we are camping out in the gym. I would like to work towards having multibleย schools come up here again, but there are lots of legistics involved,” say Anderson.ย
Taking a break from practice, all the young men trot over to a hose to get a drink of water and splash some water over their heads just like in the old days.
Central Valley High School’s first game is against Mount Shasta High School.
