FORBIDDEN FRUIT, a speakeasy inspired* exhibition of mycelium fruiting bodies as nude art, will be concealed within a merchant space on Main Street during McCloud’s annual Mushroom Festival. Like any good secret club, there is a password.
Those seeking the gallery must first locate a confections vendor whose name contains geological terminology. Beside that tent will be a booth displaying mushroom finger puppets. Speak the password — Imagonatio Dei — to said booth attendant, and pass through curtains to enter FORBIDDEN FRUIT.
The pop up event showcases ten compositions by a Weed based artist, including four which have never before been seen. The artist, an aspiring Luddite sometimes known by the anagram Herc Phistor, has never owned a smartphone, ceased sharing digital images of his work several years ago, and has had paintings accepted into juried exhibitions from Seattle to London.
