Joanne Marilyn Henson, age 87, of Yreka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2205. Born on November 28, 1937, Joanne lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of many.
Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl V. Henson; her mother, Adella Warnick; her father, James G. Ele; and her siblings, Richard Ele and Ivan Warnick.
She is survived by her loving children: Charley Floyd Stafford III, Lori Houlihan, Diana Stafford, Bill Stafford, and Carole & Lynn Gourley; and her daughter-in-law Kitty Aiello and her husband Robert Gibson. Joanne was a cherished grandmother to Myra and Dave Russell, Jesse and TeriAnn Stafford, Danielle Chapman, Jessica Porter, Melissa Houlihan, Chris Houlihan, Michelle Brackley, Clay Brackley, and Ivy Ainsworth. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Patience Russell, Summer Russell, Karly Stafford, Delila Longmore, Korbin Longmore, Hunter Chapman, Piper Angel, Seth Houlihan, Callie Houlihan, and Ashleigha Brackley. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchild: Kaito Bellamy; her dear sister Irish Warnick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Joanne dedicated herself to providing for her family through her work as a housekeeper in various motels and nursing homes. She took pride in her work and was known for her strong work ethic.
Joanne embraced life with enthusiasm and dedication. She was an avid crocheter, creating countless beautiful pieces for her loved ones. For over 40 years, she was a dedicated member of T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), finding camaraderie and support within the organization. Joanne was also a passionate bingo lover, always ready for a friendly game. Her commitment to her community shone through her 40+ years of involvement with the Elks Lodge and the VFW Auxiliary. In addition, Joanne generously volunteered her time at the Broadway New to You Thrift Store, where she enjoyed helping others and connecting with her community.
A committal service will be held on Monday, May 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery.
Following the committal, relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Joanneโs life at the Elks Lodge, located at 332 W. Miner Street in Yreka. Your presence and shared memories will be a comfort to the family. If you wish, please feel free to bring your favorite dish to share โ it would be a wonderful addition to the gathering as we remember Joanne together!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the VFW Auxiliary in Joanneโs memory.
Joanne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, her giving spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her passions will be fondly remembered.
