Apr 5, 1925 – June 28, 2026
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend: Betty Antoinette Moyer, on June 28, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101.
Betty was born in Corsicana, Texas, in 1925 to James Williams Robinson and Ila Mae Rogers. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from East Texas State Teachers College. Her education led her to Washington DC, where she worked under Colonel Marshall in the Pentagon.
In 1947, Betty married air cadet Richard A. Moyer. During Dick’s 25-year Air Force career, Betty embraced the life of a proud military officer’s wife, raising their five children in various military bases across the country and US Territories. While stationed in Puerto Rico, she volunteered as a “Gray Lady,” assisting patients at Ramey Air Force Base Hospital. When Dick retired as a USAF Major they moved to Sacramento, California before permanently relocating to Yreka, California.
Wherever duty called, Betty was an integral part of her local communities. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother in Sacramento and the first President of the White Rock Elementary School PTA. In Yreka, she worked for the Siskiyou County Welfare Department for 15 years before retiring in 1992. She was also a proud and active member of the Yreka Women’s Lioness Club. Outside of volunteering, her other hobbies included horseback riding, painting, and bowling.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, her youngest daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) A. Moyer, and her beloved grandson, Hunter Moyer.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca Benton of McLean, Virginia, Richard A. Moyer II, Charles H. Moyer, both of Washoe Valley, Nevada, William Moyer of Mt. Shasta, her niece Ann Tinsley, as well as 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Betty will be remembered for her generous spirit, charming personality, quick wit and her die-hard love for the Dallas Cowboys. As she would say, “don’t mess with Texas.”
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 17th, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka at 11:00am.
Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
