Avery Movie Night: Pirates of the Caribbean — The Curse of the Black Pearl

Saturday, April 18 | Doors 4:30 p.m. | Show 5:00 p.m.

Shiver me timbers, mateys — this Saturday the Avery is setting sail for the high seas. Break out your finest pirate regalia, because Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl hits the big screen April 18th, and the crew wants to see your best seafaring look.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the movie gets underway at 5:00 p.m. sharp. Dress the part and you could win Avery swag in the costume raffle. (Short on costume ideas? Wrap a paper towel around your head — you’ll have a Bounty on it.)

All the classic concessions will be on hand — popcorn, candy, and soda — along with wine and beer for old salts 21 and older. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and students with an ASB card. Gold doubloons accepted, though change will not be made.

The film is rated PG-13 — which, as any self-respecting pirate will tell you, is close enough to “Aarrrrr”-rated to count.

A special thank-you to this evening’s generous sponsors: Martin’s Experienced Items (welcome back, Davie and Kevin!) and Randy and Leslie Tharp. Davie’s shop is a natural fit for a pirate crowd, by the way — it’s a secondhand store, so they know they won’t have to pay an arm and a leg. And in honor of our wonderful Scott Valley librarian Leslie Tharp: Why does it take pirates so long to learn the alphabet? Because they spend so many years at C.

The Avery is located in Etna.
