Hawkins Creek Road Reopened After Emergency Culvert Repair

McCloud, CA โ€“ The Shasta-Trinity National Forest has successfully reopened Hawkins Creek Road (FSR 38N11) following a rapid temporary repair completed over the weekend.

Temporary, a permanent fix is planned for a later date (USFS Shasta-Trinity)

Forest Service roads crews began work early Saturday morning on the section of road located about six miles south of McCloud after a culvert failure caused a partial road collapse. The damaged section had forced a closure of the road, which serves as the main access point to McCloud Reservoir from the community of McCloud.

Working through Saturday and into Sunday, crews completed a temporary repair, allowing the road to reopen to traffic. While the road is now safely drivable, officials emphasize that this is only a temporary solution. A permanent repair is planned for the near future.

Motorists are strongly advised to drive slowly and use extra caution when traveling through the repaired area, as the roadway surface may have changed.

โ€œThis rapid response highlights the dedication of our roads crew in restoring safe public access as quickly as possible,โ€ said Shasta-Trinity National Forest officials.

The road closure had impacted local access to the popular McCloud Reservoir area. With the temporary repair now in place, residents and visitors can once again reach the reservoir via Hawkins Creek Road.
