During the last Butteville Elementary School board meeting, local Edgewood residents Byran and Nancy Duncan made a monetary contribution to the Performing Arts/Music Department and the Library in memory of Bruce A. Duncan. Eric Bragg, the schoolโs Superintendent/Principal, gratefully accepted the donation.

Bruce was an accomplished saxophone player in his high school and college years. He also enjoyed the new technology of personal computers. During college, he obtained several degrees and believed strongly in education.
In September 1994, he assisted the Butteville Elementary School in setting up the studentsโ new Commodore 64 computer system learning center. Continuing in his belief of education, Bruce served on the Butteville School Board for 9 years, from December 14, 1994, thru February 11, 2004 (120 consecutive regular & special board meeting attended), which included the addition of the school library during the spring of 2003 and increasing the school bus fleet to two buses to handle the growth in the school.

The donation consisted of two $50 scholarships to be given annually for 10 years, in the Performing Arts/Music Department and the Library, mirroring two other annual scholarships, and the balance of the money was split between the two departments. Suzi Zehsazian of the Arts/Music Department plans, among many things, upgrades and improvements to the lighting and sound system for The Inspiration Theater, hopefully before the May 21st to May 23rd school play. Librarian Shawn Ashworth is looking forward to additional bookshelves and better seating for enjoying the library.
