Full Response of 10 Fire Engines to McCloud Structure Fire

A fire broke out at a residence on the 200 block of Squaw Valley Road in McCloud at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24. Mutual aid from Mt. Shasta Fire Department, Dunsmuir/Castella Fire Department, and Cal Fire assisted McCloud Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The attic and second floor were fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene. They entered the dwelling wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and brought the fire under control in just over an hour.

Seven occupants were in the house at the time, and all escaped unharmed. They reported that everyone was downstairs when a sibling came home, went upstairs, and yelled that there was a fire. One family member said they grabbed the fire extinguisher, but the fire was โ€œtoo far gone,โ€ so they all helped each other exit the house immediately. They also rescued their dog and her five puppies, just four days old.
