City of Mount Shasta: Coffee With The Mayor

Join Mayor Glaubman for coffee this Tuesday at Seven Suns Coffee & Cafe on January 27th at 8:00am

On December 15th, the City Council voted to elect Casey Glaubman as Mayor for the 2026 term. He succeeds former Mayor John Redmond, who remains a part of Mount Shastaโ€™s government as a City Council member.

Mayor Glaubman will be holding an open house to speak face-to-face with residents at 8:00am thisย Tuesday, January 27ย at Seven Suns Coffee & Cafe. This event will be an opportunity for locals to meet their new Mayor, ask questions, make suggestions, and voice concerns.

We sat down with Mayor Glaubman to get the conversation started with this Q & A.

Q: What drew you to Mount Shasta?

A: I originally moved to Mount Shasta in order to work for Shasta Mountain Guides. I stayed in Mount Shasta because of the wonderful community I found here and the plentiful outdoor recreation that is such a large part of my life.

Q: What are the biggest challenges our city faces this year?

A: Our city, like pretty much all small towns in California and elsewhere, faces challenges of housing, affordability, and a lack of good-paying jobs that will allow people to stay here, move here, and to raise families here. Much of this comes down to reductions in funding, based on a number of factors, some of which are solvable in the short term, and some of which are going to need to be tackled with a more long-term approach.

Q: What can locals do to get involved?

A: Come to meetings to voice your suggestions and concerns. Join the Beautification Committee and Downtown Enhancement  Advisory Committee. Attend and help out with local non-profits and groups that are working to solve issues in our city. Stay informed, talk to your friends and neighbors, and vote.
