Dorothy Irene Palfini, of Redding CA, passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Born October 19, 1933, in Denver, her parents were Ruth Valdez and Paul Montoya. Dorothy had 3 brothers, Louis, Richard and Edward. The family moved to Richmond CA in late 1942.
Dorothy attended school in Oakland and Berkeley where she met Rick Palfini, her husband of 75 years. Dorothy and Rick had 4 sons, Ted, Ken, Rick and Ed. The family moved to Mount Shasta in 1953.
Dorothy was a homemaker before becoming the administrative secretary for the Mt. Shasta Recreation District. In the late 60’s, Dorothy and Rick opened and ran a series of businesses on Mt. Shasta Blvd. Many locals may remember “The Place” for billiards and lunch, followed by The House of Ceramics. Dorothy became the first woman to be mayor of Mt. Shasta in 1974. Her next adventure was as a Farmers Insurance Agent followed by a transition to her final career as a financial advisor in 1986. She retired in 2023. She touched many lives in so many ways, having a collective impact on family, friends and clients.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Rick, her 4 sons, Ted(Jill), Ken(Jan), Ed(Kim) and Rick as well as 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Dorothy will be missed but held in our hearts and memories.
