When a Cross-County Drug Run Went South
The silver sedan had made the long drive from the Central Valley dozens of times before, according to investigators. Each trip north on Interstate 5 through Siskiyou County had been uneventful—just another vehicle in the endless stream of traffic flowing between California and Oregon.
But on the evening of October 26, 2025, that all changed on North Weed Boulevard.

ALBEDI, LOUIS M., 38, of Yreka, was arrested by California Highway Patrol Yreka on October 22, 2025, at 11:47 p.m. at Dewitt Park Road. He was booked on October 23, 2025, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm (felony) with $25,000 bail, giving false information to a peace officer (misdemeanor), driving when privileges suspended/revoked (misdemeanor), and failure to appear on a written promise (misdemeanor) with $1,000 bail. He was released on October 24, 2025.
ALEXANDER, ADAM I., 44, of Weed, was arrested by Weed Police Department on October 22, 2025, at 3:55 p.m. at Jackson Street on warrant charges. He faces three counts of threatening a crime with intent to terrorize (felony) with $30,000 bail on the first count, two counts of child abuse without great bodily injury (misdemeanor), and one count of child abuse with possible great bodily injury (misdemeanor). He was released on October 23, 2025.
BACCHI, JASON M., 44, of Ukiah, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 21, 2025, at the jail sallyport on two bench warrants for failure to appear on felony charges from cases 2020-115 and 2019-1955. He remains in custody with a court date of November 4, 2025.
BROOKS, RYAN E., 60, of Yreka, was arrested by Yreka Police Department on October 22, 2025, at 6:50 p.m. at S Oregon Street on a charge of contempt of court for disobeying a court order (misdemeanor). He was released on October 23, 2025.
CHANN, JAMES C., 44, of South Bend, Washington, was arrested by Yreka Police Department on October 26, 2025, at 4:25 a.m. on a charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance (misdemeanor). He was released the same day.
FADE, BRANDON, 46, of Silver City, New Mexico, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 21, 2025, at 4:50 p.m. at the jail sallyport on warrant charges of arson of an inhabited structure/property (felony) and failure to appear after written promise (misdemeanor) with $1,000 bail from case 25CM03830. He remains in custody.
GUSTAFSON, GREGORY S., 66, of Mt Shasta, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 25, 2025, at 11:35 p.m. at N Stage Road on a charge of child abuse with possible great bodily injury (felony). Bail was set at $25,000. He remains in custody.
HARLOW, JASON M., 31, of Montague, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 21, 2025, at 11:37 p.m. in Montague on a charge of battery on a spouse/ex-spouse/date (misdemeanor). Bail was set at $5,000. He was released on October 21, 2025.
INDIHAR, MICHAEL E., 76, of Montague, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 23, 2025, at 10:21 p.m. at Hart Road in Montague on a charge of battery on a spouse/ex-spouse/date (misdemeanor). JOHNSON, CORY J., 45, of Dunsmuir, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 22, 2025, at 10:17 a.m. at the jail lobby on warrant charges of bench warrant/failure to appear on felony charge (felony) from case 25CF09090 with $25,000 bail and failure to appear after written promise (misdemeanor) from case SCCR-CRM-2022-855 with $5,000 bail. He was released on October 22, 2025.
KEMP, JENNIFER E., 54, listed as general delivery Yreka, was arrested twice during this period. First, by California Highway Patrol Yreka on October 24, 2025, at 5:00 a.m. at the southbound Weed rest stop on a charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance (misdemeanor). She was released the same day. He remains in custody.
KNELL, STEPHEN M., 37, of Portland, Oregon, was arrested by Mt Shasta Police Department on October 26, 2025, at 11:25 a.m. at Morgan Way on a charge of sex offender failure to register (misdemeanor). He was released on October 26, 2025.
KNIGHT, RONALD J., 63, of Dunsmuir, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office on October 21, 2025, at 8:48 a.m. in McCloud on three warrant charges of failure to appear after written promise (misdemeanor) from cases 24CM08542, 2020-91, and 2020-206, each with $2,000 bail.
