Shirley Ann Scott-Gayle, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2025,
surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 14, 1941, in Portland, Oregon, Shirley moved to Siskiyou County at the age of
17, where she built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. She worked in
accounting and bookkeeping throughout her career, earning the respect of colleagues and
clients alike.
A talented and creative soul, Shirley was an exceptional seamstress who poured care and detail
into everything she made. She also enjoyed many other crafts and found joy in gardening,
nurturing both her plants and the people around her with equal devotion.
Shirley was kind and accepting of everyone, and her presence could brighten any room she
walked into.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Elmo Gayle Sr.; her three children, Robert
Gayle Jr., Sana Gayle Funderhide, and Debra Gayle Sanders; eight grandchildren; eighteen
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other
beloved family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services at this time.
