Brian Jacob DeLong was born on November 28, 1978 to Lonny and Janie (DeLong) Rider in Yreka, California. He died on July 12, 2025 while enjoying nature and the outdoors.
Brian attended elementary school at Klamath River. After graduation, he moved to Yreka and lived with his beloved Gramma Ann while attending Yreka High School. He was active in Yreka FFA and showed market lambs throughout high school. He enjoyed playing and watching sports and was an avid Giants fan. After graduation in 1997, Brian attended Shasta College and studied vocational agriculture.
Brian worked at a variety of jobs, including driving forklift at the Wal Mart distribution center in Red Bluff, NorCal Products as a fabricator, and at Bruce’s Towing. He enjoyed jobs that allowed him to meet and interact with people and that kept him interested and engaged.
Brian had a deep appreciation and love for Mother Nature and the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and camping with his children were fun adventures that he enjoyed. His camera was full of beautiful flowering plants in natural settings. He also enjoyed cycling and kayaking.
Brian leaves behind four adult children: Clara, Caleb, Cassidie, and Colbie, all of Corning, and three younger children: Baylee, Sylar, and Maycee, of Orland. He’ll also be missed by his loving wife, Brandi M. DeLong, his mother Janie Rider of Yreka, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A graveside memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Etna Cemetery. A lunch reception will follow at Etna City Park.
