July 6, 2025- Morning
Weekend Fire Activity Summary
Multiple wildfires continue burning across the Klamath National Forest following midweek lightning storms that ignited 17 separate fires throughout the region. As of this Sunday morning, firefighting efforts have successfully extinguished seven fires, with most remaining incidents now in controlled or contained status.
Current Priority Incidents
Marble Complex – This unified command incident remains the primary concern heading into Sunday. The Summit Fire expanded to 265 acres yesterday with concerning spot fire activity crossing the Pacific Crest Trail near Summit Meadow Lake. Firefighters worked through Saturday to relocate crews to the ridge top to combat these spot fires while maintaining existing fireline security.
The 48-acre Jacket Fire, located four miles northeast of Forks of Salmon, showed better progress yesterday with crews successfully establishing fireline around the perimeter and installing hose lays to strengthen containment efforts.
Critical Development: Complex Interagency Incident Management Team 9 took command yesterday evening at 6 p.m., signaling the elevated priority of these incidents.
Smaller Active Fires
The No-Name Fire (3-5 acres) southeast of Grider Creek Campground continues to challenge firefighters due to extremely difficult terrain access. An additional hotshot crew is expected to arrive today to support suppression efforts.
The Caroline Fire near Seiad (7 acres) and the newly contained Deacon Fire (0.5 acres) are both showing good progress with mop-up operations underway.
Today’s Forecast and Concerns
Sunday morning brings continued warm, stable conditions, but fire weather is expected to deteriorate. The National Weather Service forecasts hot temperatures Monday and Tuesday with breezy winds, followed by a return of isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms Monday through Wednesday.
This weather pattern raises significant concerns about both fire growth on existing incidents and potential new ignitions from additional lightning activity.
Regional Fire Activity
Neighboring counties are also experiencing elevated fire activity. The Shasta-Trinity National Forest continues battling three major fires, including the rapidly expanding Green Fire, which grew to 545 acres yesterday afternoon with zero containment due to steep terrain and extreme fire weather conditions.
Public Information
Tonight’s Community Meeting: A public update meeting for the Marble Complex is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight at The REC event center, 11236 N. Hwy 3 in Fort Jones.
Evacuation Status: Multiple evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect. Residents are strongly urged to stay informed through official channels and be prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
Current Resources: Fire lookouts remain fully staffed across the forest, and infrared detection flights are continuing to identify any new fire starts or previously undetected holdovers from this week’s lightning activity.
Looking Ahead
Sunday’s operations will focus on strengthening containment lines before the deteriorating fire weather arrives early in the week. Additional holdover fires from Wednesday’s lightning strikes may still emerge as temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry out.
Firefighting agencies are maintaining high alert status with additional resources positioned throughout the region to respond quickly to any new incidents.
